Dr. Watkins’ profession experience includes psycho-diagnostic assessment and counseling of children, adolescents and adults in the areas of trauma, chronic depression, sexual deviance, substance abuse and phase of life transitions. A graduate of the Carl Rogers Institute’s therapy training program, as a psychotherapist, Dr. Watkins practices from a primarily client-centered framework, focusing on genuineness and unconditional positive regard for clients, with the overall belief that all persons are capable of functioning at their full, yet personal, potentials.

Dr. Watkins earned both  her M.A. and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Illinois School Of Professional Psychology-Schaumburg, where she specialized in forensic psychology, community mental health and working with underserved populations. Currently, Dr. Watkins is a research associate at Psychiatric Medicine Associates, L.L.C and assists in marketing and patient retention, as a research assistant, at Rush University Medical Center, Dept. of Psychiatry (Chicago, IL), under the supervision of Dr. John Zajeck.
